25 Nostalgic Movie Memes for Main Character Women Starring in Their Own 2000s Rom-Com

Welcome, girlies of the internet. The 2000s were an amazing decade — perhaps even the best. The internet existed, but it wasn't yet incredibly addicting, time-consuming, or inundated with never-ending content. People had cellphones, but you could only make calls, send RLLY SHORT TXTS, and play a round or two of Snake. The 2000s were also the peak of mall culture. Teens gathered in food courts and bounced from shop to shop, spending all of their allowance on the very accessories that led to the amazing adolescent fashion mishaps that make us laugh and cringe now as adults. 

The best thing about the 00s, though, was the movie scene. The first decade the the 21st century birthed the best rom-coms and comedies to date. Not only were these iconic movies entertaining and hilarious, but many were pretty intelligent! She's the Man, Bridget Jones's Diary, and Clueless were all based off of famous works of literature (Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and Jane Austen's Emma, respectively). If you grew up on pink lawyers, 13 year olds trapped in the bodies of adults, and burn books, enjoy these hilariously nostalgic 2000s movie memes!
